Organizing Committee
International Scientific Committee
The following are the members of the GlobalEM 2024 International Scientific Committee. Their main effort is to review the submitted papers, recommend those for acceptance, and to organize the sessions at the conference.
History of the
Conference
The GLOBALEM meeting has a rich history behind it. In 1978, the late Carl Baum organized the first Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse Meeting, or the NEM, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the support of the Summa Foundation, which Dr. Baum had founded many years earlier.
The first meeting attracted scientists and engineers from the United States and Western Europe. The NEM meeting was later renamed as the High-Power Electromagnetics Meeting, or HPEM. When this meeting was held in 1994 in Bordeaux, France, it was renamed as EUROEM, and subsequently, the meetings held in North America were called AMEREM. These meetings have been held every even year since 1978. In 2015, due to the increased number of papers from Asia, it was decided to hold the first ASIAEM Conference in Jeju, South Korea. Following meetings organized in India and China were called ASIAEM. In 2022, the meeting was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and was renamed GLOBALEM. The meeting continues in 2024 as GLOBALEM in Austin, TX and will continue to be known as GLOBALEM.

Summa
Foundation
The SUMMA Foundation was founded in 1973 and registered with the IRS as a philanthropic organization to promote scientific and educational activities in the field of electromagnetics. Initial funds to the Foundation were contributed by Dr. Carl E. Baum who has, from time to time, also donated the monetary parts of his scientific awards to the Foundation plus additional funds. Contributions have also been made to the Foundation by donors interested inpromoting various scientific activities in the field of electromagnetics. Some of the Foundation activities have had surpluses deposited back with the Foundation.
